uThukela explains why there’s no water

Residents are urged to be patient, as the supply should be restored shortly

Some Ladysmith residents woke up this morning (October 16) without water.

Areas such as Aloe Park, Acaciavale, Hillside and Rose Park are affected.

According to uThukela, last night’s storm caused a fault with the electrical control gear at the Ezakheni plant. The switchgear that was damaged controls the pumps that supply the Abattoir Hill reservoir with water.

The Engineering Department is currently working on the problem and they will start the pumps again as soon as possible.
