Foundation Phase learners excel in Curro national writing competition

There were 2 905 Grade R's, 4 307 Grade 1's, 4 137 Grade 2 and 4 256 Grade 3 participators. Read more here:

Writing is a way to countless adventures and wisdom. This year for the second year around, St Dominics Newcastle learners were Bold, Creative and Original while participating in the Curro Foundation Writing Competition!

“We held a special assembly to celebrate with our creative writers and to congratulate them on the original writing pieces. Only five entries were selected to go forward to the Curro National Writing Competition,” explained Mrs Leonie Meyer of the Foundation Phase.

There were 2 905 Grade R’s, 4 307 Grade 1’s, 4 137 Grade 2 and 4 256 Grade 3 participators.

“Although we did not place in the first three top positions, we are very proud of the standard of writing.”

Learners who received a certificate for achievement in creative writing

  • Grade R – Miah Moses, Alexander Burns, Yaneliswa Mkhize, Babalwa Duma.
  • Grade 1 – Abha Soomar, Wandiswe Sithebe, Sinothile Shange, Aryana Naicker, Lunga Nyebevu, Rikana Budripersadh, Thabang Thobane, Rehaa Singh.
  • Grade 2 – Simran Ramcharran, Kate Nana, Angelica Mortlock, Blossom Gumanda, Yuvthi Ramharak.
  • Grade 3 – Caylee Prinsloo, Sanjam Singh, Khloe Mortlock, Mayability Vilikazi, Kyra Wade.

The learners below received a certificate for an original piece of creative writing, and were selected to enter for the Curro National Writing Competition:

  • Grade R – Lacey-Grace Moses and Sisanda Gwamanda
  • Grade 1 – Siphosethu Mthethwa
  • Grade 2 – Lubanzi Ledwaba
  • Grade 3 – Lente Hattingh.
