Police spread crime awareness in Umhlumayo

A wide variety of topics including gender-based violence, bullying, stranger danger, theft and school safety were discussed

Ezakheni SAPS held a community awareness campaign at the KwaShuzi Community Hall, Umhlumayo, recently.

Different stakeholders gathered in the fully packed hall, including SAPS senior management, traditional leadership and learners from surrounding schools.

Police raised awareness about different crimes that are prevalent in the area, as well as ways to combat crime.

The Community Policing Forum (CPF) chairperson from Ezakheni police station, Miss Busisiwe Madonsela, said that the event was aimed at raising awareness in the community, especially focusing on learners. She added that, from here, they will now be focusing on building school safety forums. “It is important that we have these awareness campaigns to help guide children so they will know what’s right and wrong,” said Madonsela.
