The R616 that links Bergville and Ladysmith is still closed due to a service delivery protest.
This ongoing protest in the Hambrook / Acton Homes area is believed to be due to water shortages.

An affected resident commented that they have been without water for months and the community was forced to take action since the problem is not being resolved by the authorities.
Police have responded to the scene.
Motorists are advised not to use the R616, but rather the Winterton road (R600) when travelling between Ladysmith and Bergville.
