uThukela sends off elderly sportsmen

A team comprising over 130 men and women will be taking part in the Golden Games

Yesterday (October 12), uThukela District Municipality bade farewell to the senior citizens who will be participating in the annual Golden Games.

This year’s Golden Games will be taking place at eThekwini Municipality over a two-day period from October 12 to 14. The sporting extravaganza will feature more than 20 traditional and indigenous sporting codes such as soccer, athletics, jukskei, ball pass and kick, relay, ring the stick, and brisk walking.

Local senior citizens will be competing against players from other districts within the province.

Cllr SV Shabalala conveyed a message of support and words of encouragement to the participants.

The municipal leadership wishes them well in the belief that their participation in sport will benefit the elderly both mentally and physically.

May our old ladies and gentlemen represent us well and bring back the medals!
