Local model narrowly misses the crown

Thandoluhle describes this pageant as an unforgettable experience

From growing up in a small town to representing KwaZulu-Natal on the national stage for a place in an international competition, Thandoluhle Chamane (13) continues to fly the Estcourt flag high.

As a former local resident, this ambitious model participated in the International Junior Miss South Africa (IJMSA) 2022 pageant, which was held from June 27 to July 3 at the Sandton Convention Centre in Gauteng. To qualify for International Junior Miss South Africa 2022, Thandoluhle strutted her stuff in the KZN leg of the pageant.

While excitement and anxiety churned inside Thandoluhle in the build-up to and during the competition itself, it was an unforgettable experience for the young lass.

“My journey at the IJMSA is one that I will always remember. It came with lots of responsibility, but it was amazing travelling to another province, meeting different people and learning other languages. Basically, it was an emotional rollercoaster,” she related.

Together with 32 other participants from across South Africa, Thandoluhle competed in various categories in the hope of clinching the top spot and representing South Africa at the International Junior Miss pageant, which will be held in the United States of America.

Thandoluhle put her best foot forward in each of the segments and was satisfied with the IJMSA Charity title, First Princess Junior Teen, as well as a trophy and certificate for the interview segment. She was also placed among the top 10 at the competition.

“I did not make it into the top 5, but I am proud of myself for making it this far,” Thandoluhle said.

She thanks everyone who has been instrumental in her journey.
