Furious about water leak in Lyell Street

Residents wonder why uThukela don't act quickly and carry out repairs

Motorists are complaining about a major leak in Lyell Street, with water flowing onto the roadway.

The water seems to be coming from the side of the road, but it is unclear exactly where the source is at this stage.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution, as the road surface is slippery, which could result in drivers losing control of their vehicles.

“The water issue is a big thing in town at the moment, so having water running all over the road is unacceptable on every level. Not only is clean drinking water going to waste, but the situation is very dangerous for us as motorists. It’s an accident waiting to happen,” said one unhappy resident.

Speaking to other people, the general consensus is that uThukela should be acting quickly and repairing issues like this pronto so that water does not go down the drain at a time when some areas are constantly battling with water outages for days and weeks on end.
