The Local Government Sector & Education Training Authority (LGSETA), in partnership with five hosting municipalities in KZN, held a graduation ceremony in the Pietermaritzburg City Hall on Thursday (September 15).
The purpose of the ceremony was to celebrate learners, including 24 from uThukela District Municipality, who have successfully completed the Municipal Finance Management programme. The programme saw learners acquiring skills needed to address the requirements of local government for financial management operations.
A spirit of jubilation and exultation prevailed at the event. In her message of support, HR manager Mrs Gcabashe encouraged the graduates to see this opportunity as not the end, but rather the beginning of their journey. She emphasised that they should continue to study further.

“You have worked hard, learnt new skills and achieved the minimum competency skills which are now a requirement in Local Government Management. You are now armed with critical tools to further your careers and help the municipality to render quality services. We thank LGSETA for making funds available in order for us to bridge the skills gap in the workplace,” said Gcabashe.
In her speech, Ms Mchunu also thanked LGSETA for their continuous support of the process and said she was elated to be offering a learning programme accredited by them.
The handover of certificates by officials concluded the event.
