No water due to load-shedding?

Remember to store water in containers in the event of unforeseen circumstances

Water pressure in areas such as Acaciavale, Hillside, Rose Park and Leonardsville is extremely low at the moment.

These areas had no water last night (September 6).

Residents were furious to find that their taps were ‘dry’ upon arriving home from work.

According to uThukela spokesperson Jabulani Mkhonza, the reason why Acaciavale and other areas were without water is because of load-shedding experienced at the Ezakheni Water Treatment Works.

When their system is disturbed for whatever reason, it takes time to recharge and build up water storage.

“We have, in the process, also experienced numerous pipe bursts in many areas, leaving scores of households without water. Those pipes have been repaired.

“Regarding the issue of load-shedding, I must confirm that our pumps were switched on in the early hours of this morning to build up storage. Water has since been released and many affected areas now have access to water supply. We apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused,” said Mkhonza.

He further advises residents to always store water in containers, as the supply can go off at any time due to things like load-shedding and burst pipes.
