ANC says they can solve uThukela’s problems in a week

"The IFP is failing to manage, which proves that they came into power without a proper plan"

ANC spokesperson in the Josiah Gumede region, Bheki Khanyile, has come out all guns blazing as the party blames the IFP for failing to run uThukela properly.

This comes after many suburbs in town were left without water this past weekend.

Khanyile says the IFP is to be blamed for the water woes in the district. “They must not shift the blame to the workers and claim that there is a ‘go-slow’, because the workers don’t have enough resources, including fuel, to use the vehicles. The IFP is failing to manage uThukela, which proves that they came into power without a proper plan.”

He further says that the IFP stopped standby and overtime pay, and now the leaks take time to be repaired. “The IFP is the cause of the problems. When they came into power, they were quick to stop standby and overtime. Now the employees can’t work overtime because they won’t be paid.”

He adds that the IFP made a mistake by wanting to change everything that was done by the ANC, as they wanted to prove that they were in power. “They changed everything, even the systems. As a result, residents are now suffering because of their failure to properly manage the district municipality.

“If given a chance, the ANC can solve all the problems in uThukela within a week, because we know very well what to do,” concluded Khanyile.
