Local ‘griller’ bags national prize

Celumusa Mnguni from Newcastle is the winner of the Nando's National Grillers' Challenge.

Newcastle’s Celumusa Mnguni has been announced as Nando’s top griller. Celumusa – from the Newcastle Mall store – claimed first place at the company’s annual National Grillers’ Challenge on August 12.

The finals of the competition took place at the Central Kitchen in Lorentzville, Johannesburg.

[The competition] this year was exceptional and incredibly energising,” commented Founder of Nando’s, Robbie Brozin. “The spirit of peri-peri was unleashed and the quality of the chicken was great, which made it hard to judge.”

As the winning griller, Celumusa received a R15 000 prize for either a room makeover or a study bursary. He chose the room makeover to improve his home for his children.
