Deputy Minister launches ‘9-9-9’ in town

Among highlights were a foetal alcohol syndrome disorder (FASD) workshop held at the Nofta Hall.

District Development Model (DDM) champion for the Amajuba District and Deputy Minister of Social Development, Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu hosted several activities in Newcastle recently as part of the ‘9-9-9’ campaign launch.

Among highlights were a foetal alcohol syndrome disorder (FASD) workshop, held at the Nofta Hall, where tavern and shebeen owners were educated on the risks of serving alcohol to pregnant women.

During the course of the launch, a Newcastle recycling facility was presented with a R200 000 cheque. In KwaMantungwa, 11 Amajuba District chiefs and their headsmen received equipment to assist in facilitating meetings.

Minister Bogopane-Zulu also visited Utrecht-based old age home, Huis Joanna to assist senior citizens with essentials.
