Festive fund-raising market

Proceeds from the market will be donated to Shepstone Place Home for the Aged

With perfect weather and high spirits, Saturday (July 30) proved to be ideal for a ‘Christmas in July’ market.

Dozens of people made their way to Midway Family Stop, where the fund-raising event was held.

Funds generated from the market will be donated to Shepstone Place Home for the Aged to help complete repairs to the floors.

Market-goers soaked up the festive atmosphere while browsing the many stalls that offered a variety of items at bargain prices.

A special visitor also graced the market, much to the delight of the little ones… and adults too. Santa Claus himself was there to hand out treats to the children and pose for photos.

Market organiser Sherlene Gericke says she would love to see more children attend these markets.

“These events are for the whole community and parents are encouraged to bring their children along,” she said.

Describing Saturday’s market as ‘awesome’, Ms Gericke thanks everyone for their support.

“Roline Vaughan from Shepstone Place said it was one of the best markets we’ve had. There were great stalls and a fantastic vibe. Everyone was happy and had a lovely day,” added Ms Gericke.
