A hot meal to warm a cruel winter

Members of non-profit organisation, Silver Spoon say they simply want to feed the hungry.

Many needy residents in Lennoxton, Smartiesville, the CBD and other areas would be familiar with the Silver Spoon team.

Ashila Hanmonth, along with brothers, Omesh and Vinod Karsan, Nadia Dubree, Mahendra Sewpersad, and Faizel and Razia Cassim, comprise the founders and sponsors of the project, with a singular goal…

All we want is to feed the hungry,” stated Ashila.

The Silver Spoon soup kitchen is situated near the intersection of Scott and St Dominic Street, where a yellow shipping container is visible from the road.

The aim was to feed 500 people on the opening day (July 28), but due to unforeseen circumstances, a total of 150 meals were provided. However, the team is still proud of the hard work and dedication of every person involved in this heartwarming initiative.

In the coming year, we would like to prepare 1 000 meals at least three times a week.”
