Estcourt has been voted second cleanest town in KZN!
Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality attended the 2025 KwaZulu-Natal CoGTA Municipal Excellency Awards at the Greyville Convention Centre in Durban yesterday (March 25) and claimed second position for ‘KZN Municipality with the Cleanest Town’.
At the same awards in February last year, the municipality took the award for second best municipality in the ‘Best Managed Electricity Project’ category.
The event was attended by KZN Premier Thami Ntuli and CoGTA MEC Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi.
The awards aimed to commend municipalities that are performing well in various categories, including good governance, audit outcomes, best Integrated Development Plan, and cleanest town or city.
CoGTA says the event served as a platform to highlight ‘best practices’ and inspire all municipalities to strive for higher standards in serving their communities and fostering an environment conducive to investment.

In his keynote address, Premier Ntuli said these awards shine a spotlight on municipalities that go above and beyond in serving their communities. He added that it is through collaboration, dedication and unwavering commitment that we see such excellence in governance. The message was that municipalities must continue to work diligently to provide quality services and improve the lives of all residents in KwaZulu-Natal.
