uThukela takes Easter tourism campaign to the N3

Dlamini said they chose Ultra City because they were targeting people travelling on the roads

uThukela District and its local municipalities – in conjunction with the uThukela Economic Development Agency and Department of Sport, Arts & Culture – recently hosted their Easter Tourism Activation at Estcourt Ultra City ahead of the Easter holiday at the end of the month.

Business people from Alfred Duma, uKhahlamba and Inkosi Langalibalele local municipalities put up stalls where they sold baskets, beads and cultural attire.

Alfred Duma Local Municipality’s Lindo Dlamini said that, as tourism practitioners, they have a responsibility to market tourism within their jurisdiction. In addition, they decided to open up the event and make it more meaningful by joining together as municipalities, because they have the same goal of marketing the uThukela District. This resulted in a variety of tourism offerings, with each municipality exposing something different.

‘’We decided to tag along and allow local crafters to show off their talent and try to sell their products. We received assistance from the Department of Sport, Arts & Culture, who sponsored us with transport for the crafters,’’ said Dlamini.
