Amajuba district workshop encourages women’s business independence

The Amajuba District Municipality hosted a workshop in support of Women in Business to commemorate Women's Month and to upskill local female entrepreneurs

To conclude Women’s Month, the Amajuba district hosted a workshop for women in business at the district’s council chambers yesterday (August 22).

The workshop, dubbed ‘Imbokodo Iyazenzela’ , translated to ‘Women doing it for themselves’, was held in collaboration with Ithala and aimed to promote enterprise development and empower women to take advantage of opportunities in the rapidly growing business industry.

Attendees were treated to informative presentations from SEFA, KZN ETEA, and KZN Provincial Treasury, all of which aimed to teach them skills that would help them advance in their businesses.
Cllr Sizakele Ndlovu, in her welcome address, emphasised the importance of such collaborations in women pursuing their business goals.

“I can only hope that by the end of the day, we all walk away from this empowering workshop with a brand-new mind-set open to endless possibilities within the business world, so that we use our influence as a force of goodwill in our communities,” Ndlovu said.

The municipality also took advantage of the opportunity to engage entrepreneurs from various sectors in discussions about ways to stimulate the local economy.
The workshop was a huge success, with attendees leaving feeling uplifted, up skilled, and supported in their efforts to grow their businesses and promote female entrepreneurship in the district
