Since silt deposits blocked the gravity mains feeding the Archie Rodell Water Treatment Plant on Tuesday (January 17), widespread water interruptions have been experienced across Estcourt.

Leadership from uThukela District Municipality visited the plant yesterday (January 19) where an on-site inspection was held.

This prompted the appointment of a service provider that has started desludging the silt from the lines.

“There is a slight improvement in raw water in the plant. The team is currently on site busy flushing the lines. People residing in the low-lying areas are expected to be the first to receive water back to normal supply by midday tomorrow (January 20). We will keep the community posted,” said communications manager Jabulani Mkhonza.
