Much-needed road repair at intersection gets underway

This forms part of the Town Rehabilitation Programme, which is estimated to be complete in eight months

Motorists that frequent the intersection of Connor and Albert streets are undoubtedly breathing a sigh of relief at the sight of the work currently underway.

A sub-contractor has been appointed to replace the smaller older pipes under the road surface with larger pipes as well as repair the storm water drains.

A sub-contractor is replacing the existing pipes with larger ones.

“This kind of work needs to be done first so that resurfacing and paving of the intersection can be done,” said the office of the Mayor of Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality.

Once the pipes and drains are replaced and repaired, which is said to be within a month, the main contractor will be tasked to repair the road surface.

Motorists are encouraged to plan your route in the central business district to accommodate the road closure at the intersection.
