Department of Education official gunned down in Wembezi

The motive behind the shooting is not clear at this stage.

Local Department of Education official Ms Bonisiwe Ndima was shot dead yesterday (March 28) in Wembezi. Ndima was the CMC head of department in Estcourt.

It is alleged that she was gunned down by unknown suspects outside her home as she was leaving for work in the morning.

The incident comes as a huge shock to the Wembezi community and Estcourt as a whole.

Constable Thenjiswa Ngcobo from KZN SAPS has confirmed the shooting and says that police in Wembezi are investigating a case of murder following an incident in which a woman in her 50s was shot and killed in Longhomes Section, Wembezi, on March 28.

Ngcobo added that the motive for the killing is unknown at this stage.

According to a memo seen by the Estcourt News, a memorial service is planned for Wednesday this coming week (April 2) at Drakensberg Secondary School.
