Suspects arrested for drugs and illegal firearm
The gun will be subjected to ballistic testing
Two suspects were arrested on Sunday (July 7) in the Mimosadale area after being found in possession of drugs and a firearm. Members of the Public Order Policing Unit sourced valuable information and pounced on a residence in Mimosadale.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan commented that, “On searching the premises, they found 29 mandrax tablets. Further investigation led them to another premises in the area, where they found a 33-year-old man. A search of his residence uncovered a 9mm pistol without a serial number, as well as seven rounds of ammunition.”

Khan added that both suspects were arrested and charged. They appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Monday (July 8), facing charges of dealing in drugs and being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
