Suspect arrested after attacking Lennoxton couple with a panga

The safe house was identified in the Blaaubosch area and the suspect was arrested and detained.

A suspect was arrested days after a couple was attacked with a panga during a home invasion in Lennoxton on Friday, February 16.

Imran Ghafoor of Newcastle Crime Fighters Task team said the incident occurred at around 17:30.

“The suspect fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash and cellphones. ” The couple suffered serious injuries and were taken to hospital” he said.

The Newcastle Crime Fighter Task Team received information about the whereabouts of the suspect on Monday afternoon (February 19) and immediately launched a joint operation with various stakeholders to apprehend him.

The safe house was identified in the Blaaubosch area and the suspect was arrested and detained as per SAP 14.

The operational team consisted of the following:
• Newcastle Stabilise Unit (Sgt Birbal)
• Newcastle CSC (Cst. S.M. Gafoor)
• Newcastle Crime Fighters (Imran and Aashiq)
