Newcastle police arrest 225 suspects in December

Brigadier Vassie Naidoo of Newcastle SAPS urged the community to provide any information concerning any illegal activities

In their ongoing endeavours to eradicate the scourge, the Newcastle SAPS, in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies, social partners, and security companies, arrested 225 offenders from December 1-31, on charges ranging from drunk driving to attempted murder and robbery.

Lizzy Arumugam, Newcastle SAPS corporate communications officer, said during the operations, various arrests were made which included attempted murder, burglary, housebreaking, business breakings, theft of motor vehicle, assault GBH, assault common, sexual assault, contravention of protection order, theft, fraud, possession of an unlicensed firearm, robbery, common robbery, robbery with a weapon, possession of suspected stolen property, shoplifting, malicious damage to property, drunk driving, possession heroin, possession mandrax, possession of drugs, dealing in drugs, kidnapping, and corruption

Brigadier Vassie Naidoo of Newcastle SAPS, said he appreciated the efforts of his dedicated members who arrested the suspects and encouraged the community to continue working in partnership with the local SAPS.

He urged the community to provide any information concerning any illegal activities.
