Osizweni police arrest four suspects during weekend raid

The operation, that focused on drug-related crimes, was conducted by Osizweni Crime Prevention and Amajuba District members.

Four suspects were arrested and charged with various drug-related offences following a multi-disciplinary operation in Osizweni between December 2 and December 4.

The first arrest was made in Section A when police descended on a house after following up on information.

A 39-year-old suspect was arrested for being in possession of 17 parcels of Whoonga worth around R850.

The second arrest also took place in Section A where a 40-year-old suspect was arrested for being in possession of 27 parcels of Whoonga with an estimated street value of around R1 300.

Shortly afterward, a 34-year-old suspect was arrested after he was found in possession of five full, two-quarter and one-half Mandrax tablets.

The estimated street value of the drugs was believed to be around R650.

The operation then moved to Blaauwbosch where a 24-year-old was apprehended for having nine small parcels of Whoonga worth around R450.

All four suspects have since made an appearance in the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court.

Police investigations are continuing.
