Decomposed body found on Winterton farm

Detectives are looking for next-of-kin and need the community's help

Police are asking for assistance in identifying a body that was found over a month ago on a farm in the Winterton area. The man’s body was discovered on Friday, October 6, by a farm manager in a badly decomposed state.

The deceased was beyond recognition and there is nothing that can be used to identify the man at this stage.

The corpse was close to a pump house, in which a pair of running shoes were found. Police believe that the shoes belonged to the deceased.

According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan, no one has come forward to date to report a missing person in the surrounding areas. “Detectives are appealing to the community to come forward with any information they may have,” said Khan.

Anyone with info concerning the deceased’s next-of-kin is requested to make contact with the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Ngcobo, on 0825894692 or 0364881502. The 10111 toll-free number and 0860010111 Crime Stop number can also be used.
