Osizweni SAPS nab two suspects on possession of mandrax

Arumugam commended the police for their efforts and confirmed both suspects will be soon appearing in court soon.

Two suspects have been arrested and charged with drug-related offences following an intelligence-driven operation in the Osizweni policing area from October 21 and 22.

Led by the Amajuba District SAPS, together with Osizweni Crime Prevention members, the operation focused on all drug-related crimes.

The first arrest was made after police raided a house in the Manzana area of Osizweni after receiving a tip-off informing them that drugs were being sold at on the property.

“Police arrested a 42-year-old suspect for possessing three full, five half, and four quarter mandrax tablets, believed to be worth around R1000,” said Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications Officer, Lizzy Arumugam.

Police then proceeded to patrol the vicinity of Blaauwbosch where they were again given a tip-off, which led to the arrest of a 19-year-old suspect.

“The suspect was caught in possession of four Mandrax tablets estimated at around R400.”
