Police arrest several suspects during raid

All suspects will appear in court soon, facing various drug-related charges.

Seven suspects were arrested and charged with drug-related offenses following an intelligence-driven operation conducted between October 14 and 15 in the Osizweni policing area.

The operation included various members of the Amajuba SAPS District Cluster and the Osizweni Crime Prevention Unit.

The first arrest was made after members descended at a house in section A after receiving a tip-off informing them of drug dealings done on the property.

Upon searching the property, police arrested a 23-year-old suspect for being in possession of 17 parcels of whoonga, with an estimated street value of around R850.

Thereafter, a 46-year-old suspect was arrested for possessing two parcels of crystal meth valued at around R200.

A third suspect was later apprehended in the vicinity of Manzana while police were doing their regular patrols.

They were told of a house in the area where drugs were being sold. Upon arrival, police arrested a 39-year-old man for the possession of 18 parcels of whoonga worth around R900.

Later, in the evening of October 15, police arrested a fourth suspect (a 26-year-old) in Osizweni section B who was found with 16 parcels of whoonga, valued at about R850.

The fifth suspect, a 32-year-old man also from section B, was apprehended for the possession two full mandrax tablets worth around R200.

The operation led police to the Mndonzo area, where they arrested a 32-year-old man for the possession of two half and three quarters mandrax tablets with a street valued of R250.

The final arrest was carried out near Khethukuthula School after information was received of drugs being sold in the vicinity.

Upon arrival, police apprehended a 31-year-old found in possession of mandrax tablets and three parcels of crystal meth worth around R400.

All seven suspects will be appearing soon in the Madadeni Magistrate.s Court on charges of the possession of illegal narcotics.
