Qwabe family needs help finding 2-year-old child

She was playing in the yard and suddenly she was nowhere to be found

The Qwabe family of the Gomba area, Weenen, are appealing for help to locate a missing two-year-old girl.

The child went missing on Thursday, September 21, and has still not been found. According to a voice note sent to the Estcourt News by a member of a community committee, it is alleged that the child was playing alone in the yard of the family home sometime between 15:00 and 16:00 on the day of the disappearance.

The grandmother and other children were also at home at the time. The child’s mother was at work. When the mother arrived home, everyone suddenly noticed that the child was nowhere to be found.

The family searched everywhere and the community also intervened, but to no avail.

The little girl was wearing a white T-shirt with pink-and-blue striped leggings.

“There are no signs that maybe someone entered the home and stole the child, not even unknown shoe tracks,” commented a distraught family member.

Ward Councillor Lucky Mlele commented that he is aware of the situation, adding that the community looked everywhere with no luck.

The councillor says the family reported the disappearance and a case was opened at Colenso police station.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan said that Colenso SAPS are investigating a case of a missing child. Anyone who has any information regarding this case is requested to contact Sergeant Dube on 0824629413 or 0364222222
