Police recently arrested a 25-year-old suspect for being in possession of an illegal firearm.
Intelligence operatives and Visible Policing officers traced and located the suspect in the Illing Road area, where he was stopped and searched. The man had a 7.65 pistol with five rounds of ammunition in the magazine. The serial number had been removed.
The suspect has been profiled and has appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court.

He faces charges of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The firearm will be sent for ballistic testing to ascertain if it has been used in any crimes.
