Two suspects arrested on drug related charges during Osizweni Intelligence Driven Operation

Two suspects were successfully arrested following an intelligence-driven operation and a multi-disciplinary operation, which were conducted in the Osizweni Policing Area.

According to Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications Officer, Lizzy Arumugam, the said operations were pioneered by the Amajuba District Office and involved various other SAPS members from within the Amajuba District.

The members proceeded to the Manzana Area next to JV Tavern, where they conducted a stop and search operation.

A 28-year-old suspect was arrested for dealing in dagga.

Police confiscated 48 packets of dagga wrapped in clear, small plastic bags. They further recovered another black plastic bag filled with dry, loose dagga.

Thereafter, police raided a house in Section E, where they arrested a 45-year-old suspect for being in possession of Mandrax tablets.

The value of the recovered drugs was estimated at around R2060.

Both suspects have since appeared at the Madadeni Magistrate’s Court, while further police investigations continue.
