Three suspects successfully arrested for drugs during a weekend raid

The 30-year-old suspect was arrested after police found him in possession of 61 full, five half, and five quarter Mandrax tablets.

Osizweni Crime Prevention members arrested three suspects on drug-related charges during an intelligence-driven operation between April 8 and April 9 throughout Osizweni.

The first arrest was made while police were patrolling on a public road when they apprehended a 32-year-old suspect for possessing 23 packages of heroin worth around R1150.

Thereafter, police proceeded to a house in Section A, where they arrested a 45-year-old for being in possession of three full and four half-mandrax tablets.

The drugs recovered were estimated to have a street value of around R250.

The third suspect was arrested after police raided a second house in Osizweni, Section F, in the early morning hours.

The 30-year-old suspect was arrested after police found him in possession of 61 full, five half, and five quarter Mandrax tablets.

The estimated street value of the recovered drugs was believed to be around R6500.

Newcastle SAPS Corporate Communications Officer, Lizzy Arumugam, stated that the operation yielded positive results as all three suspects were successfully charged accordingly and have since appeared in court.
