Suspect found with unlicensed pistol

The man has appeared in court

A 31-year-old man was found in possession of an unlicensed pistol recently.

The gun’s serial number had been filed off and the suspect did not have a licence for the weapon. Eight rounds of ammunition were in the magazine.

According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan, the man was arrested and now faces a charge of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The suspect has been profiled, and the recovered pistol will be subjected to ballistic testing as well as other forensic processes to recover the obliterated serial number.
