Stolen vehicle recovered in dense forest

The vehicle was reported stolen in 2021

An alert herdsman helped Ntabamhlophe police recover a stolen vehicle.

The man was searching for his livestock in a Sappi forest when he stumbled across a vehicle that was well hidden in the dense bush.

“He took the registration number of the vehicle and reported to the police. Officers conducted an Enatis enquiry, which revealed that the vehicle was sought on a Besters case number,” explained police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan.

Ntabamhlophe police contacted their colleagues in Besters and reported the finding.

“The detective knew immediately that the vehicle in question had been taken during a house robbery in September 2021. He assembled a team and went out to recover the vehicle. The vehicle was indeed well concealed and was difficult to recover due to its remote location and the fact that foliage had grown around the vehicle,” added Khan.

A forensic team was tasked with examining the vehicle where they found evidence inside.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the investigating officer Warrant Officer Mabaso on 082 462 9849.
