Beware of thieving knife-wielding attackers

During the past two months, three people have been attacked

Locals are urged to be cautious when frequenting the Gellington area between Elizabeth Avenue and Harry Miller Road.
This comes after a young man was stabbed and robbed near the fire station on March 29.

According to a source (a law enforcement officer who wishes to remain anonymous), the victim was allegedly approached by two men who attempted to rob him of his cellphone and the small amount of cash he had on him.

He tried to fight them off, but was stabbed in the process. Items were stolen before the two robbers fled. A law enforcement officer gave chase upon arriving at the scene, but the suspects dashed through the long grass and made a quick escape.

According to the source, last week’s attack / theft in this area is the third reported case within two months.

“There are two individuals, known to dress in shabby black or grey clothing, who lie in wait for people walking in these streets. They target young children and women with handbags,” said the source.

He calls on locals to be extra-vigilant in this area and to report any suspicious activity to the police.
