Firearms seized in Loskop

An intelligence-driven operation yielded success

Two men from Loskop were arrested during festive season anti-crime operations for possession of firearms and ammunition. This after Amangwe Visible Policing officers teamed up with Uthukela District Crime Intelligence for an intelligence-driven operation on December 24 and 26.

“A 24-year-old suspect was arrested when police pounced on his premises in the Nyezane area. He was found in possession of a 9mm pistol as well as ammunition,” explained police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan.

Police then went in search of a second man in the EMadolobeni area. There, a 57-year-old was found in possession of a .303 rifle.
Both men were arrested and charged, and have appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court.

“Both the suspects have been profiled and the recovered firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing,” added Khan.
