Man accused of rape due to appear in court

The accused made his first appearance in court last week Friday

A man who is accused of raping a young boy (13) is due to make his second appearance in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court today (January 27).

The alleged incident took place on Friday, January 6, in the Matiwaneskop area and was reported to Elandslaagte police station.

The accused (39) first appeared in court last week Friday (January 20) after being arrested the day before. He was remanded into custody.

This is the second rape case in the Matiwaneskop area since the beginning of the new year, where a boy has been the alleged victim.

The first incident took place on January 3, when a 16-year-old boy was allegedly raped. The accused in this case appeared in court on Thursday, January 12, but the case was suspended due to lack of evidence.
