Businessman shot dead in Macfarlane Street

The man was shot while outside his business premises

A well-known Estcourt businessman was shot dead outside his business premises this morning (January 27).

Shiven Juggernath, owner of Jess Towing Services, was gunned down by an unknown man at about 08:00.

According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan, members of the Estcourt Visible Police were called out to the shooting incident in Macfarlane Street.

“On their arrival they found a male who had sustained several gunshot wounds. It is alleged that the businessman was close to his vehicle when he was shot from behind by an unknown gunman. The deceased passed on a short while later,” he explained.

Several spent cartridges were found on the scene.

Police say that the motive for the shooting is unknown and a case of murder is being investigated.
