Robbery suspects appear in court

Police believe that the 3 accused are linked to a spate of local robberies

Three suspects thought to be involved in robberies in the area appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning (December 12). Aged between 21 and 28, they face charges of house robbery, possession of an illegal firearm, as well as possession of stolen property.

The arrests were made late last week, after detectives from the Violent Crimes Section of Ladysmith Detective Services were contacted by their counterparts in Phoenix. The suspects, who had been sought by police for several house robberies in Ladysmith, had surfaced in the Phoenix area.

Detectives pounced and arrested them. They also recovered suspected stolen property which included a firearm allegedly taken during a robbery, as well as cellphones and jewellery.
