Don’t fall prey to online investment scam

The scam is doing the rounds on social media and looks very realistic

Ladysmith police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan is urging people not to fall prey to an online scam that is currently doing the rounds.

Fraud cases have already been opened in Phoenix and Mountain Rise, in the Durban area, after people were duped by this scam.

Potential victims are asked online to invest in ‘schemes’ and told that their initial investment amount will be doubled. However, when the victims try to make withdrawals, they realise that they are unable to communicate further with the bogus company.
