Three suspects arrested for armed robbery

Two of the men were also positively linked to an unsolved theft from a motor vehicle case on October 10.

Three people have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery that occurred in the Newcastle CBD in August.

The victim was allegedly approached by three men who threatened him with a gun before assaulting him. They then robbed him of his personal firearm and other valuables before fleeing the scene.

Following a tip-off, the Newcastle K9 Unit, Newcastle Crime Fighters Task Team, and Newcastle POC’s Sergeant Birbal and Warrant Officer Mohammed tracked down and arrested the suspects.

Two of the men were also positively linked to an unsolved theft from a motor vehicle case on October 10.

The third suspect was also charged with the illegal possession of a firearm.

All three suspects will soon appear in Newcastle Magistrates Court.
