A homemade firearm and ammunition were recovered by police in the Upper Tugela area recently.
Uthukela District tactical response teams acted on information they received about a person harbouring an illegal firearm.
“Officers pounced on a premises in the Manzana area and a search of the abandoned premises revealed a homemade firearm, as well as two different calibres of ammunition. The exhibit has been seized for further investigation,” commented police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan.
The suspect was charged for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
