Man arrested in Loskop for illegal firearm possession
Law enforcement officers from various units were part of this intelligence-driven operation
A 28-year-old man was nabbed by police last week for harbouring an illegal firearm.
The arrest was the result of an Intelligence-driven operation in Loskop that was tackled by several law enforcement officers.
“Officers traced and located the suspect, and pounced on his premises, where he was arrested. The operation resulted in the arrest of one suspect and the recovery of an unlicensed firearm,” said police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan.
The man appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Monday, where he faced a charge of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
“The recovered firearm will be subjected to ballistic testing to ascertain if it was involved in any crimes in the republic,” added W/O Khan.
