Cops clamp down on crime in Ezakheni

The arrested suspects are expected to appear in court soon

Officers from the Ezakheni Visible Policing Unit were joined by the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) as they clamped down on crime in Ezakheni over the weekend.

‘Stop and search’ operations, vehicle check-points, as well as ‘cordon and search’ operations were held in different sections. Vehicles, premises and persons were searched by the law enforcement officers.

A 40-year-old suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and a 31-year-old was nabbed with drugs.

Alcohol was also seized during the operation.

The two suspects face charges of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of drugs. They are expected to appear in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court soon.
