Hijacked truck recovered in Isipingo

The truck was hijacked in Estcourt and later recovered by private security companies in Isipingo

A truck carrying retail goods was hijacked in Estcourt.

During the early hours of Thursday morning (August 18), Estcourt police responded to a distress call.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Basheer Khan explained that when officers located a man and his colleague, they received sketchy information.

“He alleged that they had been hijacked while travelling in a truck. They were travelling south bound when the incident took place. The man was unable to provide any details about the vehicle,” he said.

According to national media reports, the truck was later found abandoned in Ernest Clokie Road in Prospecton, Isipingo.

The recovery was made by private security companies.

The goods were removed from the truck.

While a case has been opened for investigation in Isipingo, Warrant Officer Khan said that a case docket could not be registered at the Estcourt SAPS.
