Murder suspect arrested with illegal firearm

The suspect is expected to appear in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court later this week

Late last week, Bergville police received valuable information about a wanted murder suspect who was in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Officers traced and later arrested the suspect.

During interrogation, the whereabouts of the firearm became apparent.

The Bergville station commander, detectives, as well as the Vispol commander went out with officers from the Pietermaritzburg K9 Unit on Friday (August 12) and recovered the gun. There were six live rounds of ammunition in the magazine.

The suspect was charged for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and is expected to appear in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court later this week.
