Armed robbery in Kandahar Avenue

The suspects made off with an undisclosed amount of cash, cellphones and a wallet

Armed men robbed a butchery in Kandahar Avenue this morning (August 3).

A cashier said she was opening the shop when six men pushed her inside and locked the doors.

Some of the other staff were already inside. The thugs pulled out guns and manhandled the employees as they ordered them to go upstairs.

“One of the suspects demanded to know where the cash was. They made us lie down on the ground and said that if we moved, they would shoot. I was terrified when they cocked their guns. I thought I would not see the light of day again,” said the cashier.

One of the staff tried to fight back and was pistol-whipped. The robbers hit him on the head with their guns and viciously kicked him as well.

Two staff members were seriously injured and taken to hospital.
