Dundee comes out to support Rotary Club Charity Bowls Day

All funds raised will go towards Dundee Rotary Club projects snf Rotary president Anita da Silva thanked all the participating teams and those who bought blankets that will be donated to the needy in the area.

An uncharacteristically hot August Saturday cut short the Rotary Charity Bowls Day played on the local greens.
The ‘Basotho Ballies’, who won the ‘Best Dressed Team of the Day’ prize, were left sweating – their woolly blankets may have kept out the early-morning chill, but proved to be ‘overkill’ once the sun burned through.

And the ‘Gorgeous Gloves’ ladies had to shed their hand warmers to ensure a better grip on their woods.
This group of fun-loving ladies took home the ‘Stone Last’ prize, which did not bother them in the least.
18 teams of four competed on two greens and it was the ‘Cherryville’ team (that boasted bowls club president Greg Conolly in their ranks) that won first place.

Originally, three games of seven ends were to be played, but the sizzling-hot weather forced many inside, where a rugby atmosphere prevailed as the Boks took on and beat ‘Down Under’.
Greg explained that the Rotary Club is always happy to open its facilities for charity fund-raising events.
