Endumeni Mayor confident that local roads will soon be ‘ship shape’

This R1,9-million project will see repairs done from Gladstone Street down Bulwer Street which is currently very badly rutted.

Endumeni’s much-maligned road network is getting a much-awaited facelift after the 2024/25 municipal budget kicked in on July 1.

Two projects were launched on Thursday. The internal roads in the small Thelaphi settlement near Marie Ratschitz mission, Wasbank, area are to be re-gravelled with temporary jobs created for some unemployed residents of Ward 7.

Cllr Saleem Abdool said the construction started this week at a cost of R3,7-million with Senzel Trading 112 CC being awarded the contract.

Mayor Siyabonga Ndlovu also proclaimed that ‘potholes will be filled’ when he launched the Bulwer Street upgrade.

Nethile Projects will undertake the work. Cllr Abdool said more road projects are being planned with Oldacre Street, which is also in a very poor condition, ‘also on the list’.

Mayor Ndlovu said these projects are indicative of the municipality’s commitment to service delivery.
