Metal thieves pick on stricken Dundee train

The clean up operation has started but will take days to clear the debris.

So-called ‘paras’ have already swooped on the stricken train that derailed on Monday afternoon adjacent to the cattle auction sale kraal.
Pieces of metal, including runners, have been stolen from some of the wagons.
A pile of the stolen pieces were found near a clump of trees between the railway line and the road leading to the sale kraal.
Several blankets were left under the trees – indicative of people who have set up shelter in the area.
Security guards have been deployed to keep out spectators while Transnet officials attempt to clear the line which will take several days.
Transnet has launched an investigation into the crash.
