IFP sacks leader linked to stock theft in Dannhauser

Xaba was also a PR Councillor with the Umzinyathi District Council.

The IFP has removed Dumisani Xaba, the leader of the Endumeni sub-district, after he was arrested and charged with alleged stock theft last month.

Xaba has been replaced by Aaron Mthethwa, who has since been introduced to members by the provincial leadership.

Xaba and another man were arrested in June after they were pulled over by a vigilant policeman on Sunday, June 23, along the R33 Dundee/Greytown road. They were travelling in a bakkie that was pulling a trailer. The officer spotted five head of cattle in the trailer.

It was established that their documents to transport the cattle were not in order and the branding on the cattle was incomplete. The men also failed to give a proper explanation as to where they were taking the cattle. T

The Glencoe Stock Theft & Endangered Species Unit was contacted for further investigation. The lawful owner of the cattle, from Dannhauser, positively identified the animals and they were then handed back to the owner.

The suspects were detained at Dundee police station and the case was transferred to the Dannhauser Magistrate’s Court – the area in which the cattle were stolen. The case is ongoing.
